Registered Nurse – Oakwood Commons Long Term Community

Rotation:
Friday, Saturday, Thursday, Monday (biweekly)

Rate of Pay: $36.06 - $54.59 (as per collective agreement)

• Perform assessment and planning of resident needs, delivery of skilled procedures, medication administration and documentation.
• Utilize sound nursing practice principles to ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care.
• Provide nursing care in accordance with policies, provincial regulations and the RN scope of practice.
• Collaborate with residents or substitute decision makers regarding needs, preferences, and health status at move‑in or changes in status.
• Create, develop and evaluate plan of care and goals of care with residents or decision makers.
• Demonstrate professional knowledge of equipment used in nursing care.
• Assist with development and implementation of policies and guidelines reflecting community philosophy.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care to meet physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural and social needs of residents.
• Participate in conferences with interdisciplinary teams providing care to residents.
• Act as a role model for nursing team members in accordance with professional standards and legislation.
• Deliver in‑services and education to nursing and other team members.
• Teach RPN/LPN’s and PSW/HCA’s new skills.
• Share knowledge, act as a resource, and provide support for educational programs.

• Bachelor of Science – Nursing (BScN), Bachelor of Nursing (BN), or equivalent.
• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Knowledgeable with nursing process, developments and current trends in geriatric care.
• Compassionate and dedicated to supporting seniors with comfort, dignity, and respect.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Proficient in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to set priorities and organize work in response to patient needs.
• Proficiency in both official languages, French and English, is considered an asset.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada with valid work/study permit.
• Must successfully pass a TB screening (ONT), Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
