Join the University of Waterloo as a Research Assistant I, a part-time role specializing in microbiology and molecular biology. Engage in essential lab operations and research support.
In this temporary role, you will assist Dr. Kesen Ma in the Biology Department, working 20 hours a week to contribute to innovative research projects. Key duties will include conducting microbiological experiments, organizing lab materials, and managing research databases, all while fostering a collaborative and empowering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct experiments involving microorganism growth
• Assist with molecular biology tasks like DNA extraction and PCR
• Manage daily lab operations and material restocking
• Enter research data according to established protocols
• Support fieldwork and specimen collection activities
Requirements:
• BSc degree in biology or a related field
• Preferred laboratory experience in microbiology or molecular biology
• Strong communication and attention to detail
• Ability to solve problems independently
• Understanding of University of Waterloo policies is advantageous
