Laurentian University is seeking an Industry Liaison Officer (ILO) to cultivate and expand external research partnerships with industry in the mining and minerals sector, with a strong focus on critical minerals. The ILO will play a key role in strengthening connections between industry partners and Laurentian researchers, facilitating the development of collaborative research and commercialization opportunities. Through targeted outreach, networking, and engagement with industry stakeholders, the incumbent will identify partnership opportunities, connect companies with relevant institutional expertise and funding programs, and support pathways that translate research and innovation into industry-relevant applications.
Reporting directly to the Director, Research and Innovation, the successful candidate will serve as a key connector between industry partners, researchers, entrepreneurs, and provincial intellectual property and commercialization resources. The role is focused on expanding industry-driven research collaborations, increasing access to commercialization pathways, and strengthening Laurentian’s position within Northern Ontario’s mining and critical minerals innovation ecosystem.
The ILO will work closely with the Goodman School of Mines and Senate-approved research centres to support industry-relevant research partnerships and contribute to the advancement of Laurentian’s broader mining strategy. The ILO will be a self-starter with a continuous improvement and innovation mindset.
