JOB SUMMARY:

The PA practices under the supervising physicians in the BMH Physician Practices to evaluate patients in the office setting and, in some instances, in the nursing homes. The PA treats both acute and chronic problems. The scope of problems encountered by the PA is the same as those dealt with by the supervising physicians in the practices.

DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:

The BMH-owned or managed physician practices provide medical services in various specialties and offices including pediatrics, ob/gyn, cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery, family practice and internal medicine. The practices are staffed by physicians and other licensed providers who are supported by clinical staff (LPNs or medical assistants) and clerical staff (receptionists, transcriptionists, file clerks). Hours vary by practice.

Requirements:

  • QUALIFICATION
    • EDUCATION:
      • Certification/degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
    • EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS:
      • Two years of PA experience in a primary care practice, or a relevant specialty practice preferred.
    • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S):
      • Current licensure as a PA-C by the State of Vermont.
      • Certifications as an adult or family Physician Assistant by a national organization, which is recognized by the Vermont State Board of Medical Practice.
      • Qualified to be credentialed by the BMH Medical Staff.
      • Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
      • DEA license.

OSHA Category I - Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues require use of techniques of Universal Precautions as evidenced with blood borne pathogens standards.
