The Capstone Advisor mentors graduate students through every phase of their Final Capstone Project, ensuring scholarly rigor and progress monitoring. The role combines individualized coaching, assessment panel participation, documentation management, and proactive monitoring of learner engagement in the Learning Management System (LMS). Success requires deep subject‑matter expertise, strong research‑methodology guidance, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, motivating academic experience.
What you’ll do- Meet with assigned students according to the pre‑approved advising calendar, offering direction on topic selection, research design, and project milestones.
- Track each stage of the Final Project, verify interim deliverables, and ensure adherence to published deadlines.
- Participate in formal defense panels for assigned students; fairly assess presentations and final submissions.
- Prepare and submit all forms that formalize, track, and monitor assigned student’s capstone process.
- Regularly review LMS activity, confirm required student posts, and intervene early when performance indicators fall below expectations.
- Encourage consistent student involvement across project phases and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Join program coordination sessions, required meetings, and training workshops..
- Advocate for student participation and, when feasible, participate to inspire new cohorts.
- Other tasks inherent to this role and designated projects as assigned by the VP of Academic Affairs.
- Terminal Degree
- Doctorate (PhD, EdD, DBA, or equivalent) in the relevant or related field; record of scholarly publications. - At least three (2) years advising graduate research or supervising thesis/capstone projects; demonstrated success in virtual or hybrid learning environments.
- Proficiency (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) in English. Portuguese or Spanish preferred.
- Advanced understanding of research methodology and academic writing standards.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard) and MS Teams.
- Familiarity with data‑tracking tools (e.g., Business Analytics).
- Strong organizational skills, deadline discipline, and attention to detail.
- Ability to provide empathetic yet rigorous feedback.
