Responsibilities

• The 1898 & Co. Utility Consulting Director is responsible for the successful sale and execution of management and advisory consulting engagements.

• This role requires subject matter expertise in at least one of the following service areas:
- Transmission Planning
- Grid Modernization & Distribution Planning
- Resource Planning & Market Assessment
- Financial Analysis & Rates
- Utility Investment Planning
- Renewable Energy
- Energy Asset Advisory
- Zero Emissions Transportation

• The Director will manage and provide expertise and professional development to a team of consultants and analysts in managing project quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontracts, proposals, estimates, and client relations.

What You’ll Do

• You'll organize and direct consulting projects, including the overall pursuit, negotiation, execution, cost, schedule, and quality of deliverables.

• You'll facilitate workshop sessions with senior-level client teams to understand client requirements, uncover needs, and develop action plans.

• You’re a strategic thinker and anticipate client problems. You’ll provide innovative and impactful solutions.

• Your communication and planning skills are vital to keeping everyone on the same page with project personnel's needs and department management.

• You'll compile, distribute, and present status reports, including project progress, schedule, cost, and budget impacts to internal and external stakeholders.

• You’re a curious seeker, passionate about personal and professional growth, and willing to take strategic risks.

• You'll establish project teams, coordinate activities amongst multiple disciplines, and ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.

• You’ll be accountable for delivering third-party vendors and subcontractors, including contracts, scope, schedule, and budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related degree from an accredited program. MBA preferred.

• Minimum of 13 years of relevant consulting experience.

• Excellent business acumen with proven success managing consulting engagements.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets quickly and efficiently.

• Ability to uncover customer needs, develop recommendations and deliver them persuasively.

• Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong understanding of financial concepts.

• Excellent planning and analytical skills.

• Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
