Summary
The Purchasing Specialist who is responsible for planning, sourcing, and purchasing all products within the Beauty & non‑food category(ies); will have end‑to‑end ownership of a category of our products. Daily functions include sourcing new vendors, building and managing current vendor relationships, negotiating costs and terms, maintaining existing product lines, and setting up new product lines respectively. He/she will also interact with our marketing and promotion teams to develop pricing and selling plans and make decisions on how to scale and expand our customer base to drive GMV growth and margins.
This position requires bilingual skills (Chinese and English) to communicate and negotiate with both domestic and international vendors.
- Sourcing & Procurement
- Generate purchase orders, and confirm status to ensure daily delivery
- Source and develop new vendors, craft negotiation strategies and terms on price, payment, lead time, and close deals with optimal terms
- Source and develop new products in Asian beauty and home segments based on customer demands, price, quality, availability, market trends, and team budgets
- Strategy and Analytics
- Develop, lead, optimize, and execute category sourcing and purchasing strategies
- Use data and multi‑dimensional metrics to improve KPIs for inventory level, allocation, turnover, and cash flow
- Forecast price, analyse customer buying patterns and market trends to optimise product assortment and pricing and adapt to changes in buyer‑supplier power
- Increase customer experience through everyday work and communicate KPI results and root‑cause analysis with management, leading corrective actions where needed
- Vendor Relationship
- Maintain and improve vendor performance using metrics such as fill rate, lead time, and OSHA requirements
- Navigate difficult price negotiations under tight deadlines while maintaining confidence
- Partner with cross‑functional teams on platform promotions, marketing allocation, markdowns, payment terms, and other special requests
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1+ years of purchasing or vendor management experience in retail or related industries
- Familiar with trending non‑food & beauty products in the market
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for non‑food & beauty products and understanding of customers
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills in English; mastery of Chinese required;
Japanese/Korean is a plus - Analytical thinker with a positive attitude and flexibility to accommodate evolving business needs
