Machine Operator (3rd Shift) – O'Neal Steel / Lafayette

DescriptionThe Machine Operator sets up and operates production machinery in compliance with established procedures and guidelines. Responsibilities include operating computer‑controlled equipment, selecting and positioning tool heads, and adjusting machine settings to meet specifications and timelines.
What You Will Be Doing- Follow all safety guidelines and wear required protective gear.
- Set up and operate a variety of processing equipment: fiber laser, saw, shear, press brake, roller, plasma, etc.
- Operate material handling equipment: forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog.
- Read, interpret, and follow work instructions and blueprints, including 3D prints.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
- Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa; perform addition and subtraction of fractions and decimals.
- Provide high‑quality work to internal and external customers.
Work night shift (8:00 PM – 4:00 AM) Monday‑Friday; overtime as needed.
Qualifications- Experience operating processing equipment (saw, shear, press brake, roller, plasma, laser, etc.).
- Experience operating material handling equipment (forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
- Proficiency with measuring tools: tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, micrometer.
- Math skills for converting fractions and decimals, performing addition and subtraction.
- High quality workmanship toward internal and external customers.
Upon offer, candidates must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
Skills & Certifications (Preferred)- Overhead crane certification.
