SHS Health​/PE Teacher

Responsibilities

• Assist students in the classroom by taking notes, scribing, and reading information out loud.
• Assist students with seat work by reinforcing instruction, clarifying subject matter, etc.
• Modify tests and assignments as needed.
• Prepare study guides for quizzes and tests as needed.
• Acquire a working knowledge of core academic subjects.
• Serve as a liaison between students, administrators, regular education teachers, special education teachers.
• Provide input on students' progress throughout the year.
• Attend IBP meetings and/or provide feedback when requested.
• Supervise and facilitate students' learning, organization skills and completion of assignments in learning labs.
• Develop a working knowledge of students' individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Demonstrates the commitment to build and maintain a safe, fair and respectful working and learning environment that honors the cultural diversity of students and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including clerical duties.

Students, Teachers, Staff & Parents

• Associate's degree or two-year college certificate required
• Experience working with children with special needs preferred
• First Aid Class/ CPR & AED Certification Required (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
• Substitute Authorization Preferred
• Effective time management due to time clock
