Job Description
Colorado Mountain College is seeking full-time nursing faculty to join our teaching staff at the Steamboat Springs campus. Our teaching team consists of 13 full‑time faculty and over 15 part‑time faculty across three campuses. The position begins in July 2026 with a 30‑credit‑hour (170‑day) contract per Board Policy 4.12.
Primary ResponsibilityThe faculty member will work under the supervision of the Dean of Nursing, who is also the Chief Nursing Officer. Major areas of instruction include classroom instruction, simulation lab, and clinical teaching. The role may involve night, weekend, and alternate location teaching, as well as interactive video teaching and other technology‑based approaches.
Teaching responsibilities include:
- Teaching the assigned course load
- Evaluating courses and assessing student learning
- Meeting established course, program, and student learning outcomes
- Complying with guidelines and policies
- Maintaining office hours per established standards (minimum five per week)
- Developing rapport with students and participating in advising
- Participating in orientation and registration activities
CMC faculty are expected to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities such as campus/college committees, relevant projects, peer mentoring, assessment, program review, student organization support, recruitment, and retention.
RequirementsQualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program or be eligible to be credentialed. Ideal qualifications include:
- A Master’s degree in Nursing
- 2,000 verifiable related occupational hours within the past five years
- At least one year of demonstrated teaching/training experience (or equivalent in a part‑time role)
An active, unencumbered Colorado RN license or ability to obtain one is required. A Doctoral degree or current enrollment is preferred. Experience with adult medical‑surgical populations is required; experience with pediatric patients and families is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities are preferred.

Salary and BenefitsSalary range: $ – $ annual, depending on education and experience. Compensation follows a wage‑progression model and is set in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
