The Physical Therapist assesses, plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury. This full‑time position offers medical, dental, and vision benefits, employer‑paid long and short‑term disability, continuing education funds, a 401(k), and a monthly profit‑sharing commission. The role is Monday through Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention. Review physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine diagnosis and physical therapy treatment required.
- Plan, prepare, or carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
- Obtain patients' informed consent to proposed interventions.
- Administer manual exercises, massage, or traction to help relieve pain, increase patient strength, or decrease or prevent deformity or crippling.
- Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
- Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enter information into computer. Test and measure patient's strength, motor development and function, sensory perception, functional capacity, or respiratory or circulatory efficiency and record data.
- Discharge patient when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide appropriate follow‑up care or referrals.
- Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
- Meet company expectations as described in VSON Policies and Practices.
- Maintain confidentiality of Personal Identifiable Information in accordance with company policies, state and federal laws, OHSA and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform job in accordance with all company safety practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
This job operates in a medical office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. It may involve frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The work can be stressful at times and requires constant interaction with patients and colleagues.
PhysicalDemands
The position is physically demanding and requires standing for long periods, stooping, bending, stretching, and supporting patients’ body weight. The employee must regularly talk, hear and view a computer monitor for medium periods. Manual dexterity is required to operate a keyboard, mouse, calculator, telephone, copier, scanner and other office equipment.
Requirements What it takes to do the job Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical safety hazards and precautions.
- Ability to communicate with different audiences in a simple, clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work under pressure and with strict deadlines.
- Ability to identify when confidentiality, discretion and judgment are needed, and exhibit these traits appropriately.
- Ability to keep detailed reports, and use information technology including email and web navigation, clinical EMR, and Microsoft Suite programs.
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program required.
- CPR certification required.
- Current Colorado Physical Therapist license required.
