Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk
Position Summary
This person will be responsible for providing accounting support to accounting supervisors and other managers within the department, as well as financial record keeping. The role will handle accounts payable duties and assist accounting personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities- Create and maintain accounts payable for multiple companies
- Verify vendor invoices, including matching to purchase orders and receipts
- Work with purchasing department to resolve pricing discrepancies
- Perform G/L coding of invoices
- Review employee expense reports for accuracy and company policy compliance
- Obtain management approvals when needed or applicable
- Execute check runs
- Compile monthly disbursement report
- Reconcile vendor monthly statements and handle vendor inquiries
- Maintain A/P vendor files
Requires 2-year degree or 3‑5 years of experience in accounts payable.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, fractions, and percentages.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMaintains a valid Driver’s License.
Essential Job FunctionsMental: Must be able to effectively communicate with others; complete and understand complex analysis of numbers; read, analyze and interpret written materials; ensure compliance with company policies; respond appropriately to feedback to make improvements; maintain positive working relationships; troubleshoot and solve problems.
Physical: Must be able to hear and verbally communicate for hours at a time, use computer equipment; moderate noise level and limited exposure to physical risk.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities RequiredKnowledge of modern business communication, office procedures and methods; skill to use a personal computer and various software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite; ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork.
Equipment UsedTelephones, computer, printers and other office equipment as needed.
Special/Additional RequirementsPersons in this position may be required to pass a drug, alcohol, and/or criminal background check.
