Senior Accountant - Manager

A well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice based in Brecon is seeking an experienced Practice Manager / Senior Accountant to join its growing team. With a strong local reputation and a loyal portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders and SMEs to limited companies, this firm offers a varied and rewarding role for an individual looking to take on a key leadership position within a successful practice.

As Practice Manager / Senior Accountant, you will oversee a diverse client portfolio while supporting the Partners with the day-to-day management of the practice. This is a hands-on role combining client-facing responsibilities, technical accounting expertise and team leadership.

• Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, sole traders and limited companies
• Reviewing accounts, tax returns and management accounts prepared by junior team members
• Preparing statutory accounts in line with current accounting standards
• Advising clients on accounting, tax and business matters
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Supporting the development and mentoring of junior accountants
• Managing workflow, deadlines and resource planning across the practice
• Assisting with practice growth initiatives and identifying opportunities within the client base
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and professional standards

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or be qualified by experience within practice)
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
• Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax and personal tax
• Experience reviewing work and supervising junior staff
• Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• A commercial and proactive approach to client service
• Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, Quick Books or Sage would be advantageous

• Salary up to £55,000 depending on experience
