This role offers the opportunity to be involved in operational forestry across a variety of sites and projects.
We are looking for a capable and motivated Forester to join our Brecon office. This role provides hands-on involvement in forest management operations and exposure to both estate and commercial forestry. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the planning and delivery of operational forestry programmes
- Assisting with the establishment, maintenance, and development of conifer, mixed, and broad leaved crops
- Conducting site surveys, assessments, and preparation of maps and operational documentation
- Supervising on-site activities and supporting contractors
- Maintaining clear communication with clients, landowners, and stakeholders
- Assisting in the preparation of reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Contributing to the development of regional forestry projects
Training and support will be provided to develop knowledge of company systems, operational procedures, and professional silvicultural practices.
Qualification & Experience- Practical knowledge or experience in forestry operations
- Relevant academic qualification (Forestry or related land/science-based discipline)
- Understanding of forestry legislation and UKFS/UKWAS requirements
- Awareness of upland and lowland silviculture principles
- Experience liaising with clients or stakeholders advantageous
- Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body or working towards is desirable.
- Diligent, reliable, and safety-conscious
- Analytical and attentive to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work effectively within a team
- Proficient with IT systems, including Office 365 and GIS desirable
- Clean, Full UK Driving Licence
