This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the management of forests that will influence future landscapes and timber supply.
We are seeking an experienced Forest Manager to join our Forest Management team based at our Brecon office. This is a varied and rewarding role requiring technical expertise, sound commercial judgement, leadership capability, and strong communication skills. You will work closely with colleagues across harvesting and forest management functions, supporting the delivery of high‑quality forestry services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identification, assessment, and implementation of forest management operations
- Delivery of operational programmes aligned with client objectives and compliant with health & safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
- Liaison with clients, landowners, statutory bodies, and stakeholders
- Coordination of establishment and maintenance programmes across conifer, mixed, and broadleaved crops
- Preparation of budgets, annual reports, and financial forecasts
- Compilation of management plans and long‑term production forecasts
- Programming thinning and felling operations, including timber assessment, marking, and mensuration where appropriate
- Monitoring compliance in timber sale contracts
- Managing tenders and securing contract opportunities
Training and support will be provided to familiarise the successful candidate with company systems and procedures. Ongoing professional development will also be encouraged.
Qualification & Experience- Proven experience in forest management with direct involvement in day‑to‑day operations
- Experience working with woodland owners, clients, and stakeholders
- Relevant academic qualification (Forestry or related land/science‑based discipline)
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including forestry and environmental legislation
- Strong commercial awareness and operational understanding of upland and lowland silviculture and the full range of operations from new planting and restocking through to harvesting
- Knowledge of UKFS and UKWAS requirements
- Awareness of grant and regulatory systems advantageous
- Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant body desirable
- Strong commercial and operational judgment, and a desire to develop and grow the portfolio over time.

- Ability to work collaboratively and lead proactively
- IT proficiency, including Office 365 and GIS systems
- Clean, Full UK Driving Licence.
