Spanish Language Teacher

SPANISH LANGUAGE TEACHER

Mater Dei Catholic High School seeks an experienced, permanent, full-time secondary-level Spanish teacher focused on language and literature.

• Teach Spanish language and literature subjects, preparing course objectives and study outlines according to curriculum guidelines.
• Teach Spanish vocabulary, diction, grammar, and semantics, incorporating classroom learning activities.
• Develop a well‑rounded curriculum that enhances students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills both formally and conversationally.
• Establish and enforce classroom rules to maintain instructional order.
• Provide conversational classes for pronunciation practice and important expressions.
• Teach basic composition and research current teaching materials and methods.
• Organize engaging events showcasing students’ Spanish‑language skills.
• Assign coursework and homework, administer tests, and grade student performance.
• Schedule and prepare students for oral and written examinations, assess progress, and analyze data to inform instruction.
• Develop lesson plans tailored to individual student needs, recommend additional resources, and deliver intervention sessions for students requiring extra support.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare progress reports.
• Attend all scheduled team planning, evaluation meetings, and staff development sessions.

• Bachelor’s degree in linguistics, secondary education, general education, or a related field.
• At least one year of prior teaching experience in Spanish or related fields.
• Specialized knowledge in Spanish teaching, demonstrated by:
• Holding a bachelor’s degree in Spanish.
• Having a U.S. state teaching license with a Spanish endorsement.
• Completing a minimum of three years of work experience teaching Spanish.
• Completing an undergraduate or graduate degree program taught in Spanish.
• Possessing a professional standard demonstrating expertise in Spanish teaching.
• Completion of a formal application, background and reference checks, and fingerprinting.

Compensation includes a salary of $45,280 per year and standard benefits.
