NETWORK OPERATIONS ENGINEER I

We are looking for a
Network Engineer Ito design, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain data/telephony networks based on various technologies and complexity levels. Duties include providing implementation engineering and technical support, including proposals and solution presentations. In addition, this position requires listening to and effectively communicating information to customers and vendors, delivering customer support both in-person and over the phone in a professional manner, training peers, working independently and as a member of a team, and maintaining cooperative work relationships.

This position participates in On-call rotation.

• Advanced understanding of principles and practices of networking technologies
• Advanced understanding of LAN/WAN protocols
• Able to work under general supervision independently and in team environment
• Maintain cooperative work relationships
• Possess good time management and documentation skills
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills
• Able to type 45 WPM with 95+% accuracy
• Long periods of sitting
• Able to bend, stoop, lift up to 80 pounds, carry, kneel/crawl repetitively
• Able to drive safely and to supply and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report
• Ability to provide and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
• Able to maintain balance and climb ladders safely
• Possess sufficient hand strength and dexterity to safely use industry tools, including sharp tools (ie. knives, scissors, cable clippers, and blades)
• Must also be able to tolerate confined spaces and work well in a stressful environment.

Education, Experience & Training

Candidate must meet the minimum qualifications as detailed below or have a combination of education and/or experience deemed equivalent by management.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field.
• Must have advanced understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking. Related certifications are a plus.

Experience:

• Three years of experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex data/telephony networks.
• Juniper (MX Routers and EX Switches) and Adtran (Net Vanta and Total Access 5000) experience preferred.
