Olympic College is recruiting an adjunct faculty to join the Social Sciences & Humanities Division with the OC Film School. The position is part‑time Filmmaking faculty, teaching primarily FILM 240, Acting for the Camera, and other FILM classes as determined by the discipline faculty. This position requires in‑person instruction with a day‑wide availability between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM

As a comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies, which includes awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; and four applied baccalaureate degrees. We also provide community education throughout our two‑county region.
The OC Film School features a media production studio, dedicated editing suites, a sound stage, all‑new film production equipment, a screening theatre, and Mac computers with industry software. The program grants Bachelor’s and Associate degrees in Filmmaking and is taught by current and former industry professionals.
Olympic College seeks adjunct faculty who can help maintain cutting‑edge instruction, bring an entrepreneurial spirit necessary to collaboratively assist in growing and guiding a department dedicated to serving the authentic needs of the digital filmmaker in the 21st century, and help take the department to the next level of national prominence. Candidates capable of assisting the program in these areas will be given priority.
EssentialFunctions
- Teach evening, distance, and in‑person classes in Shelton, Bremerton, and Poulsbo campuses when requested.
- Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping.
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested.
- Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs.
- Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
- An MA (MFA preferred) in Acting/Directing or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in film acting and scene study or related courses at the college level.
- Preference will be given to instructors with a strong background in the Stanislavski System, Meisner technique, directing experience, and strong ties to the profession.
- A working knowledge of video equipment (camera, boom, monitor, etc.) as used in the class environment is required; editing skills are a plus.
- Recent experience as an actor or director in feature films and/or episodic content or web series. Preference will be given to instructors with SAG/AFTRA, AEA affiliations, and recent/current film credits.
- Evidence of a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.

- Conduct instruction for clustered classes of different levels of learning.
- Demonstrate the ability to remain current in Filmmaking trends, especially with regard to theories and changing terminology.
- Deliver instructional course content with excitement and enthusiasm.
- Use a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background, as well as experienced students desiring to further their careers.
- Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement.
- Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds as well as military veterans.
- Support diversity in higher education through the application of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voices, as well as by contributing through actions.
