Continuing Education Instructor
Salary: $50/hour
Classification: Part‑time, hourly, exempt
Reports to: Director of Continuing Education
Olympic College is seeking a Continuing Education Instructor to teach non‑credit classes such as ballroom dancing, astronomy, and IT. The instructor will create class proposals, develop curriculum, collaborate with CE staff on scheduling, prepare and teach classes, and assess student satisfaction.
Essential Functions- Research and develop a continuing education class appropriate for the college’s audience.
- Complete and submit the Course Proposal Form.
- Determine any out‑of‑pocket expenses for students.
- Create curriculum using OC protocols and procedures, including clear outcomes and instructional hours.
- Coordinate with the CE Program Specialist to select location, classroom size, and necessary resources.
- Communicate with other OC departments regarding after‑hour and weekend classes, security, parking permits, teaching station, and other resources.
- Prepare the classroom for teaching.
- Advise potential and enrolled students on class deliverables, expectations, and expenses.
- Assess student satisfaction with the class.
- Minimum: Proven expertise in the chosen topic area, documented through experience or education.
- Preferred: Teaching experience;
Associate Degree or higher.
Only U.S. authorized workers eligible. Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six‑month period to qualify for health benefits and 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to qualify for retirement. The position is scheduled for up to 18 hours per week. Benefits include deferment compensation program, supplemental retirement plan, sick leave, paid holidays, and other space‑available benefits.

Background check (criminal record history) and Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form required. Employee must reside in Washington State within reasonable distance of campus. Travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
