Job Title:
Long-Term Substitute High School English Teacher
Reports To:
Head of School
Crosspoint Christian Schools is looking for a Long-Term Substitute High School English teacher who is a committed follower of Jesus, called to Christian education, and has experience integrating faith and learning in the classroom. This position includes teaching English courses across multiple grade levels, including 8th, 10th, and 12th grade. The teacher will guide students through a variety of literature, writing, and critical thinking experiences appropriate to each level.
This role requires a passion for fostering strong reading and writing skills, engaging students in thoughtful discussion, and helping them develop their own voice through analytical and creative expression.

Hourly Range: $18-$25

- Develops a curriculum map for each course taught, where learning objectives are aligned with WA state graduation requirements
- Prepares detailed lesson plans
- Uses a variety of teaching methodologies to create an engaging and safe classroom setting where all students are held to high expectations
- Incorporate technology in meaningful ways into instruction and learning
- Utilize Renweb for inputting all assignments, tests, quizzes, and projects in a timely manner, using the grading scale provided by the school.
- Keeps an accurate record of all grades for each student.
- Uses Microsoft TEAMS Assignments for documenting all homework assignments and for communication with students.
- Keeps an accurate record of all attendance and tardiness for each student.
- Maintains discipline in the classroom to ensure maximum learning
- Always keeps an emergency lesson plan and a current substitute folder in case of an unexpected absence
- Communicates with parents on an “as needed” basis regarding their student’s academic or behavioral status in the class.
- Returns phone calls and emails within 24 hours.
- Keeps an accurate record of all communications with parents.
- Advises the administration as soon as plans to be away from the classroom are being considered.
- Attends all in-services, department meetings, and school events as scheduled.
- Coordinates field trips and special events, as needed.
- Attends students’ retreat every year, as scheduled by the Administration.
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field
- Minimum 1 year of teaching experience at HS level
