Olympic College is recruiting to fill a full‑time, tenure‑track Biology faculty position at our Bremerton, Washington campus. This position will begin Fall Quarter 2026. Olympic College is in search of faculty members who are deeply committed to student‑centered education and the promotion of an inclusive and equitable learning environment. As a comprehensive community college, we offer a wide range of programs, including Transitional Studies (including high school diploma and GED preparation, as well as English to Speakers of Other Languages), academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates, four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education services across our two‑county region.
We are actively seeking applicants who are passionate about student‑centered learning, closing achievement gaps, promoting diversity, and creating opportunities for social justice education. The successful candidate will be skilled in making data‑informed decisions in their teaching practices.
Essential Functions- Provide quality instruction in Biology at the Bremerton campus.
- Provide high‑quality, enthusiastic instruction, including related preparation and grading.
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested.
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with the college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms and records as required.
- Maintain clear and punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff.
- Attend faculty, department, and division meetings.
- Complete related responsibilities as per the current collective bargaining agreement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biology required.
- Related Master’s degree with substantial graduate level Biology coursework may be considered.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft applications.
- Successful experience teaching Biology at a College or University.
- Experience with Learning Management System software such as Canvas.
- Deliver instructional course content with excitement and enthusiasm.
- Use a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teach students with little or no background, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their career.
- Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement.
- Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds as well as military veterans.
- Support diversity in higher education through the application of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voices, as well as by contributing through actions.
- Foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, diversity, and a learning‑centered climate.
- Demonstrate success in incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals to maintain effective and positive working relationships.
- Collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students as part of an educational team.
- Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services, including the use of the College‑approved learning management system.
