Olympic College is seeking Adjunct Faculty for the DMS Program. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students in the DMS program. The adjunct faculty member will deliver engaging methods of instruction, hands‑on laboratory training, and clinical instruction in accordance with curriculum and accreditation (Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC‑DMS) and CAHEEP (Committee on Accreditation of Health Education Programs)) standards.

The role requires commitment to students’ success, academic excellence, and the ongoing development of the DMS program.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in Diagnostic Medical Sonography courses, including didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical settings.
  • Develop and deliver course materials that align with program objectives and accreditation requirements.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning through examinations, practical assessments, and competency evaluations.
  • Supervise and mentor students during clinical experiences to ensure proper skill development and patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and evaluations in compliance with institutional policies.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and faculty members to maintain and update curriculum content.
  • Stay current with developments in sonographic technology, industry trends, and best teaching practices.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accrediting body requirements.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from an accredited institution.
  • Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent Board‑certification in Abdomen and OB/GYN Ultrasound.
  • Two (2) years of recent clinical experience in diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Have experience teaching and/or precepting DMS students.
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Computer competency, including Microsoft Office Suites applications.
  • Gross and fine motor skills required to assist students and provide safe, effective diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Physical endurance and ability to work in a clinical setting with students for 4–6 hours.
  • Licensed with an unencumbered DMS (RDMS) license in Washington State.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in DMS or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with accreditation standards (JRC‑DMS, CAHEEP).
  • Prior classroom and clinical teaching experience in a community college setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development and Canvas LMS.
Terms of Employment

This is an adjunct faculty position on a quarterly basis. Salary will be determined by educational qualifications and applicable credits. The position requires a 50% full‑time load for the first two consecutive quarters to become eligible for benefits. Olympic College does not sponsor visas. Work may include evening and weekend classes, instruction at satellite campuses, and travel to clinical sites.
