Position: Strength & Conditioning Coach - Winter Season 25/26 - Bremerton High School (251216001)

FUNCTION: The Strength and Conditioning Coach provides expertise, guidance, and training in the area of nutrition, strength training, agility and physical conditioning for all student‑athletes and sports teams at Bremerton High School.

SUPERVISOR: Athletic Director, Principal

Essential Responsibilities

  • Improve student‑athletes’ athletic performance through developing, implementing and evaluating strength and conditioning programs
  • Monitor, develop and enhance the fitness and sporting well‑being of student athletes
  • Ensure and promote equality of opportunity, respecting diversity and recognizing the needs of different groups and individuals
  • Create, build and sustain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders to ensure effective, regular communication and to develop an understanding about the roles and benefits of Strength and Conditioning
  • Obtain and maintain an up to date First Aid/CPR card as required by the WIAA

Specific Strength and Conditioning Responsibilities

  • Test and evaluating student athletes
  • Implement appropriate programs for student athletes
  • Aid the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer to provide strength and conditioning knowledge for all coaches for their seasons, including designing, instructing and evaluating warm‑up and warm‑down protocols
  • Set year‑round general training programs for all squads including adequate testing, monitoring and evaluation
  • Maintain up‑to‑date records on the strength programs of each team and specific individual workouts
  • Provide all student athletes with guidance and training techniques for free weights and other training equipment
  • Develop a culture of hard work amongst student athletes while providing education on specific training and goals
  • Take personal responsibility for continual professional development to keep up to date with changing concepts of strength and conditioning performance
  • Attend, contribute to and provide regular reports associated with the strength and conditioning program at appropriate meetings to the Athletic Director
  • Be present, professional and punctual for all strength and conditioning program sessions with student athletes

Instructional Leadership and Professional Development Responsibilities

  • Organizes and administers the overall strength and conditioning program at Bremerton High School
  • Provides leadership and instruction to athletic coaches and physical education teachers in the use of fitness center equipment and training of student athletes
  • Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the high school physical education/athletic strength and conditioning facilities
  • Assists the Athletic Director in the development and purchase of physical fitness equipment and training aids
  • Motivate and encourage student athletes to participate in off‑season conditioning and physical fitness program
  • Stay updated on current developments in strength training and conditioning
  • Participates in continuous student and attends relevant conferences and workshops to maintain and enhance professional competence

Other Duties

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the athletic director may assign

Highly Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualifications at degree level (or equivalent) in sport science specializing in the area of
  • physical preparation of student athletes
  • Minimum of two years strength training
  • Relevant Strength and Conditioning Certificate with evidence of continuing professional development
  • Substantial experience in:
  • the provision of strength and conditioning services to athletes and coaches to improve performance
  • developing and implementing innovative ideas and putting them into practice, including working in an applied and integrated manner
  • strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of strength and conditioning of high performance athletes
  • coaching
  • Understanding of the various sports science and medicine disciplines
  • Excellent anatomical knowledge and ability to apply to the strength and conditioning program
  • Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge of strength and conditioning techniques
