Job Description

The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of the Unit Director and collaborate with peers, unit staff, and other facility staff to support individuals served.
  • Perform complex data-based clerical tasks, including typing, filing, organization of documents, reception duties, timekeeping, inventory maintenance, and coordination of confidential information.
  • Adhere to scheduled shift of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, with occasional flexible hours for special assignments.
  • Assist persons served with training in daily living and vocational skills.
  • Establish and maintain positive supportive relationships with employees, individuals served, and family members and friends.
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication within and between departments.
  • Complete typing of all professional reports by assigned dates and file all documents accurately.
  • Perform duties of other clerical staff in their absence.
  • Communicate regularly with Home Managers and Home Supervisors regarding individuals’ clothing and personal items.
  • Monitor, maintain, and order supplies for staff and residents, reporting problems to the Unit Director.
  • Facilitate financial transaction processes (including picking up and distributing money).
  • Consistently complete special assignments as directed by the Residence Director.
  • Accurately record and submit timekeeping, and obtain approvals.
  • Ensure staff receive required benefits paperwork such as FMLA and extended sick requests.
  • Maintain and update staff file records.
  • Participate in disaster response and/or recovery operations or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, as needed.
  • Assume alternate shift patterns or location during disaster response or COOP activation.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar, arithmetic, and modern office practices. Familiarity with principles of office management and word processing. Ability to type accurately at a speed consistent with work requirements. Ability to apply departmental rules and procedures, maintain complex and confidential records, prepare equipment for formatting forms and tables, train other employees. Dedicated to public service with a commitment to excellence in service delivery and ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively.
