We are seeking a dedicated Elementary Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs across the district.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in the related field.
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate for special education or appropriate out‑of‑state certification.
- Special education or related certificate.
- ESL certificate required during first year if not already obtained.
- Must meet all federal and state law requirements for qualification.
- Adhere to the district’s philosophy of instruction and provide direct support to students in the classroom through a variety of co‑teaching models and strategies.
- Work collaboratively with co‑teachers, teaching and grade‑level teams, and instructional support staff to plan, share student work and ensure instruction is aligned with identified curriculum and standards.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and reflect accommodations for students’ learning styles.
- Participate in the identification, evaluation, and recommendation of learner competencies and appropriate goals/objectives.
- Develop and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students, ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations.
- Implement instructional objectives tailored to students’ learning styles and utilize new methodologies and innovations.
- Manage classroom behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders through conferences and reports.
- Support school mission by serving as a positive role model and fostering inclusion.
- Participate in staff development activities, maintain required records, and attend faculty meetings and committees.
- Assist with extracurricular activities and event sponsor ships as assigned.
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, and lifting (up to 15 lbs routinely, occasional heavy lifting).
- Repetitive hand motions, prolonged computer use, and extended periods of irregular hours.
- Ability to manage students with physical disabilities, including restraint when necessary.
- Exposure to weather conditions and school environment hazards.
