Teacher – Dyslexia –
BRENHAM ISD
Provide instructional services to students identified with dyslexia through a multi‑sensory instructional program. Assist with facilitation of 504 meetings and provide input to Section 504 and ARD committees related to services for students with dyslexia.
Major Responsibilities- Adhere to and promote the district’s philosophy of a dyslexia program
- Facilitate and implement the dyslexia and reading program for the campus
- Communicate with teachers, administrators, and parents as needed
- Monitor student achievement data and interpret, report and act on results
- Maintain all necessary student records required by the dyslexia program
- Provide staff development to campus personnel on dyslexia or related reading disorders
- Successfully complete the district-provided dyslexia program training in a timely manner
- Stay abreast of current research and development in dyslexia and research‑based reading programs
- Assist in organizing and/or conducting in‑services and workshops that facilitate the implementation of the District Dyslexia Program
- Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for students with dyslexia and related disorders
- Participate with teachers, parents, campus administrators and district administrators in determining qualification for 504 dyslexia services
- Use effective communications skills to present information accurately and clearly
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification
- Minimum of 4 years of effective teaching in Reading (preferred)
- Bilingual preferred
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the characteristics of dyslexia and common risk factors
- Ability to deliver, with fidelity, a highly structured and systematic dyslexia program used in B.I.S.D.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and use student data to guide intervention and instruction
- Ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate outcomes of targeted interventions through the Response To Intervention (RTI) process
- Ability to work as part of a team
