POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for maintaining flow of various containers to completion on all liquid, grease, and hand cleaner production lines. Position can vary day to day to include the following duties: capping, labeling, packing, stacking and clean up.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review information on batch ticket for components needed and special instructions. Verify correct components by comparing receiving label on component to batch ticket. Initial batch ticket once components have been verified. Ensure sufficient quantity has been brought to the line, as to not hamper production efficiency.
  • For empty bottles – verify stager has brought over the correct bottles and initial batch ticket once verified.
  • For screened bottles – verify correct bottles by comparing screened container to the customer and product name as listed on batch ticket.
CAPPING
  • Ensure correct caps are on the line and in sufficient quantity for the order. If product is to be heat sealed, ensure induction sealer is on and in proper working order.
  • Apply caps to containers as they are filled, verifying all bottles are filled to correct fill level.
CONTAINER LABELING
  • If necessary, setup label machine with PS labels to be applied to containers. Ensure labels will be applied uniformly.
  • Ensure container is clean prior to labels being applied. Wipe containers if necessary. For screened containers, ensure product and guardrails have not smeared screen.
PACKING
  • Ensure boxes have a lot number sticker applied, verify lot number sticker by referencing lot number written or printed on batch ticket. Place a copy of the sticker on batch ticket.
  • If using inkjet printer, verify correct lot number has been entered and is applied to bottles.
  • Ensure boxes are correctly labeled with a PS label or a 4x6 white label. Verify 4x6 white labels have correct company name, product name, and spelling. Apply to boxes in an even and uniform manner.
  • For DOT products, ensure boxes are properly labeled with correct hazard labels and markings.
  • Ensure each box receives required number of bottles, sprayers, dividers, etc. as needed.
  • Run packed box through tape machine, ensuring box is sealed properly.
  • Stack boxes onto pallets according to established stack patterns. Add corner protectors and shrink wrap as necessary. Use proper lifting techniques.
  • Upon completion of a pallet, apply the pallet tag with quantity of cases recorded.
ALL POSITIONS
  • Ensure that all Personal Protective Equipment requirements are met.
  • As time allows, assist in final assembly of product.
  • Keep area clean and organized.
  • Report any problems to supervisor immediately.
  • Any other duties or projects which may be assigned by the Supervisor or Plant Manager.
  • At end of production remove excess components that will not be used in next order.
  • Between change over or tote change assist machine operator in cleaning machine, mop or sweep floor, or assemble boxes for the next order upon the direction of machine operator, lead person or supervisor.
CLEAN UP AND END-OF-DAY INSPECTION
  • At the end of each shift, inspect work area to assure area is organized and clean. Return raw material components to designated storage location.
  • Make sure that all equipment (pumps, electric motor, etc.) have been shut off and properly sealed. No equipment should be left running without monitoring.
  • Inspect floors to make sure they are clean and free of chemical spills. Report any problem to the supervisor.
  • Inspect work area for any unlabeled containers or items not belonging in the production area.
  • Return any portable equipment to proper storage location.
  • Return all PPE equipment to designated storage location. Ensure that PPE is clean and properly stored.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience working in a production environment is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

Must have the ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods, sometimes with heavy loads. Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled environments.
