SummaryWe’re seeking a highly motivated and safety conscious Fabrication Shop Manager (AKA: Shop Superintendent) who will be responsible for organizing, coordinating, and supervising the day‑to‑day workflow of an industrial fabrication, machining, and assembly operation.
Responsibilities- Develop production schedules, assign work, and track labor and the resulting production throughput. Review daily time sheets for accuracy of all paid hours and certify proper assignment of labor hours to relevant job numbers.
- Oversee hiring, training, and development of employees while ensuring adequate staffing levels and addressing performance issues.
- Demonstrate a management style that fosters a collaborative environment for shop personnel, as well as all company support functions, including engineering, purchasing, project management, accounting, etc.
- Enforce all company, client, and regulatory safety standards and protocols (e.g., OSHA) to maintain a safe working environment. This involves conducting regular safety inspections, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any incidents or hazards.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance on fabrication tools and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure proper operation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Interact with clients or internal departments to clarify specifications, resolve issues, and ensure satisfaction.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field a plus. - Proven experience in a supervisory role within an industrial fabrication, machining or assembly operation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite core programs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret shop drawings and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of AWS and ASME standards and codes a plus.
- Bi‑lingual skillset a plus.
The Shop Superintendent generally works in a shop environment, which may involve exposure to noise, machinery, and materials. The role may require standing for extended periods, lifting moderately heavy objects, and occasionally working outside regular business hours to meet deadlines or address emergencies.
