POSITION OVERVIEWReceive bulk raw materials and returned goods into bulk storage locations and maintain the yard's organization. Coordinate bulk material storage in the production yard and ensure all totes are stored properly and replaced when necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform the unload of all bulk materials and handle them according to proper safety guidelines and company procedures.
- Keep totes in the yard area organized; any totes needing to be disposed of or returned for recycling are identified, and notify the supervisor when enough are ready to contact the disposal company to pick up.
- Triple-Rinse totes when needed and ensure proper labeling. Consolidate like products when appropriate.
- Work with the mixing Supervisor to forecast the need due to upcoming large runs of product or when totes are due for recycling due to being worn out.
- Inspect yard storage areas to ensure chemicals have not spilled. If a spill has occurred, report to the supervisor and make sure the chemical is cleaned and disposed of according to the appropriate waste stream. Reference labels, SDS, or ask a supervisor for proper PPE, cleanup, and disposal method.
- Ensure all raw materials are properly sealed and labeled with product number, product name, hazards, and dates. Replace any labels that cannot be read or have fallen off.
- Perform location transfers with handheld or on‑area computers for all material moved from a location.
- Place empty containers in assigned areas for proper disposal. Ensure all containers are completely empty prior to placing them in the disposal area.
- Ensure all Personal Protective Equipment requirements are met.
- Serve as a backup to Waste Coordinator when needed to move drums or totes from the production area to the waste area, and to load empty drums in the empty drum trailer on drums emptied after 2 pm.
- Safely operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in handling supplies and equipment.
- Backs up Receiving Personnel. Unload incoming materials and compare information on the packing slip with the purchase order to verify the accuracy of the shipment after hours.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Any other duties or projects which may be assigned by the Supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience working in a warehouse environment is preferred. Must receive training and be certified before operating a forklift. Recertification is required every 3 years.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTMust have the ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods, sometimes with heavy loads. Must be able to work in non‑climate‑controlled environments.
