** Job Description
**** Job Summary/Purpose
** The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machines, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies. This role frequently collaborates with other departments like Production, Quality, and Engineering.
** Essential Duties
*** Read blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files for making tools and dies
* Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of work pieces
* Set up, operate, and disassemble conventional, manual, and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools
* Test completed tools and dies to ensure they meet specifications
* Monitor the feed and speed of the machines
* Operate CNC Lathes, Mills, and VMCs
* Measure, examine, and test completed tools and dies for defects
* Smooth and polish the surfaces of tools and dies
* Clean through various processes;
Ice blast, sand blast, and lathe
* Pull, stage, deliver tools to molding, and put away tools
* Present finished work pieces to production and make modifications if needed
* Operate manual horizontal lathe machine for the purpose of polishing tools
* Perform daily 5S duties
* Other duties as assigned
* Follow all company safety policies and procedures
* Maintain compliance with quality standards and work instructions
* Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
* Accurately complete production and maintenance documentation
* Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions related to tooling or machining issues
** Working Environment
*** Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment
* Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, and other equipment as required
* Exposure to machine oils, lubricants, metal chips, and varying temperatures
* Frequent interaction with production and tooling personnel
** Physical Requirements
*** Frequently stand and walk for extended periods during shift
* Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
* Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements
* Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb as needed
* Ability to distinguish visual defects and perform detailed inspection work
** Qualifications
* *** Minimum Qualifications
*** At least 2 years’ prior experience machining precision products and tools on a CNC machine (set-up AND operation)
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Reliable and predictable attendance
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
* Proficiency using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges
* Basic understanding of machining feeds, speeds, tooling, and work holding
