DescriptionThe Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) will assist in ensuring the provision of quality care that promotes the highest practicable physical, mental and psychological well‑being of each resident as determined by resident assessments and individual plans of care.
Primary ResponsibilitiesThe ADON will:
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing day‑to‑day nursing department functions in accordance with rules and facility policies.
- Develop and regularly evaluate methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of the residents’ total care regimen in accordance with regulations and standards.
- Communicate with attending physicians and medical directors regarding resident care issues as needed.
- Communicate with families regarding resident care issues when appropriate.
- Assist in determining staffing needs, recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling to ensure adequate nursing coverage.
- Participate in supervising staff to ensure assigned tasks are completed.
- Assist in the daily startup process and the development and implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program for the nursing department.
- Serve on the Quality Assurance Committee as assigned.
- Review resident clinical records, consultant reports, and implement corrective plans as needed.
- Assist with MDS assessments and care plans as required.
- Implement compliance actions regarding regulatory reports.
- Participate in the facility’s nursing on‑call schedule.
- Perform any other duties deemed reasonable and necessary by the Director of Nursing.
- Completed an RN program at an accredited vocational school, college, or university.
- Current Texas RN licensure.
- At least 3 years of experience working in a skilled nursing facility.
- Preferred:
Current RUG certification.
