Choice Teachers are working with a large secondary school in Willesden who are seeking an experienced, confident and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their behaviour and pastoral team from September 2026
.

This is a challenging behaviour-focused position supporting secondary-aged students who can display high levels of challenging and disruptive behaviour. The successful Behaviour Mentor must be confident managing difficult situations, de-escalating incidents, establishing clear boundaries and building positive relationships with students who may be disengaged from education.

This is not a general classroom support position. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong experience in Behaviour Support, Alternative Provision, PRUs, Pastoral Support, Youth Work or other environments involving challenging young people.

About the Behaviour Mentor Role
  • Provide targeted behaviour support across the school
  • Work directly with students displaying challenging and disruptive behaviour
  • Respond calmly and confidently to behavioural incidents
  • Use effective de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
  • Establish clear, consistent and appropriate boundaries
  • Support students who have become disengaged from lessons
  • Help students regulate their behaviour and make positive choices
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour interventions
  • Support students returning to lessons following behavioural incidents
  • Work closely with the school's behaviour and pastoral teams
  • Monitor behaviour, attendance and engagement
  • Build strong relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Act as a positive role model for young people
