About the RoleExtra-Curricular Drama Teacher based in Brentwood, Essex. Are you passionate about drama and inspiring young performers? We are looking for a self‑employed Drama Teacher to lead our dynamic after‑school drama clubs in a welcoming primary school setting.
You will run two fun, creative drama clubs each week:
- Wednesdays: 3:15pm – 4:15pm for ages 8–11 years
- Thursdays: 3:15pm – 4:15pm for ages 5–7 years
This is a fantastic opportunity to share your love of performing arts, build confidence in young people, and design engaging sessions that encourage imagination and teamwork.
The Drama teacher will deliver an engaging and creative curriculum to classes (ages 5–11) of between 10–25 students at a school in Brentwood, Essex. The role will include supporting students as they work their way through the LAMDA course—learning to act, perform, make conversation, create and explore their love for performing arts.
The role will also provide access to the Arts Award course for our students; full training will be given to the right candidate.
There will be potential to grow your own understanding of our classes and progress independently through our CPD and additional courses with Trinity College London.
Requirements- Self‑employed status
- Enhanced DBS check
- Experience working with children
- Own public liability insurance suitable for work in schools
- PGCE
- Level 2 Safeguarding (completed this academic year)
- First Aid training
Preferential (Training Can Be Provided)

About the CompanyPlease refer to our ‘About’ page on the website for details on how the Costello Music School came to be. We now operate in 4 schools in the Brentwood and London area—teaching approximately 300 pupils. The school is going from strength to strength, looking to expand into more primary schools over the coming terms.
We have also been awarded Arts Award Centre status, which will allow us to offer day courses in the Discover Award to primary schools and we also run a Summer School in 2025, so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to grow with the school and find your own niche within our community.
