Campus Aide

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Campus Aide to join our team. This versatile support staff role is crucial for maintaining a positive, orderly, and effective campus environment, both outdoors and within classrooms.

The campus aide is a support staff position, covering the outdoors and classrooms at times pre-scheduled and being available for immediate needs to support any behavior or coverage issues that arise. The ideal campus aide is ready and willing to do what is necessary to support campus flow, the students, the classroom experience, and the director. An array of skills can and will be utilized, but mainly those sought in an aide are strong leadership, coachability, assertion, and an eye to see what can be done to improve the campus experience.

Campus aides report and connect to the Campus Lead as their direct team leader and then to the Campus Director.

Daily and weekly activities may vary, but many are listed below to give a feel of the position:

Connecting and Assertive Presence

• Have a presence among students that is warm and kind in the hallway.
• Help make copies or field questions a touch point for teachers popping out or students being sent for additional help.
• Actively roam the hallways looking for ways to create a tidy footprint within the church walls.
• Be aware of the classroom settings—both up and down stairs—evoke leadership in the upstairs hallway area where students may leave the classroom to use the restroom and watch for behavior or incidents from that process.
• Be involved in intercepting late arrivals and issuing late slips, walking students to class or chapel, bringing in late lunches/water bottles, and the like.
• Have a feel for the lost and found items - keep a watchful eye on items left in the hallways.
• Attend to students, if or when necessary, who are waiting at the front desk/office area to provide a supervising presence while waiting for pickup [i.e. illness or behavior]
• Stay in communication and step with the Campus Lead and Director to ensure campus flow and structure of safety remain in tact

Coordination of Storage and Special Projects

• Assist the Campus Lead in any daily tasks [from straightening storage cabinets to other one-off type of needs]
• Pull items for projects, crafts or experiments that teachers may need in support of the campus lead
• Be available to step into a classroom to support math transitions or teaching, help with binder preparation, backpack tidying or storage, any subject changes, or centers/activities depending on the teacher’s expressed needs for their classroom.
• Be proactive in finding tasks that improve the campus experience for staff and families.
• Set up and see through recess supplies or activities in tandem with the campus lead
• Become familiar with the set of students and the area you serve, facilitating and enforcing the rules with clear leadership, consequence structure, and communication in advance to all campus students
• Be ready to intercept volunteers and assign them positions within the play yard on campus [and follow through with correcting behavior if or when necessary]
• Be prepared to escalate any behavior situations to the Campus Lead and/or Director as trained or laid out in the correction structure.

Schedule and Compensation

Compensation is $19 per hour with two options for expected campus hours: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm/8:30 am to 2:30 pm, or 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, depending on role availability.
