SALARY INFORMATIONPOLICE OFFICER RECRUIT SALARY: Starting at $65,862 or $67,068 w/ bachelor’s degree.
Additional 5% salary increase at 12 months ($69,011 or $70,278) w/ bachelor’s degree.
* Includes Transportation and Communication Allowances.
CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER SALARY: Starting at $70,604 or $71,811 w/ bachelor’s degree.
Additional 5% salary increase at 12 months ($73,991 or $75,257) w/ bachelor’s degree.
* Includes Transportation and Communication Allowances.
SHIFT & DRESS CODE4 – 10 hour shift schedule with a differential for 2nd shift of additional $1,200/year; 3rd shift additional $2,100/year.

Tuesday, January 27 and Wednesday, January 28 – Interviews.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Enforce all City and State codes, ordinances, laws and regulations (both traffic and criminal) in order to protect life and property, prevent crime, and promote security.
- Patrol designated areas via motor vehicle or on foot; makes police presence known in a manner that contributes to deterrence of law violations.
- Prevent/discover commission of crime; apprehend criminals and offenders; write citations and make arrests as appropriate.
- Respond to calls/complaints involving automobile accidents, misdemeanors and felonies.
- Conduct accident/criminal investigations; locate and question witnesses, victims or other persons and takes statements; interrogate suspects; collect evidence; examine records; testify in court; serve warrants, obtain subpoenas and make arrests; conduct surveillance; work undercover; prepare detailed investigative reports.

- Must have completed:
- 60 semester hours of college credit from a regionally accredited college or university, OR
- 30 semester hours of credit from a regionally accredited college or university AND 2 years experience as a certified police officer or two years active‑duty military
- Must be 21 years of age before hire date.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Tennessee driver's license.
- Must not have any tattoos visible in a traditional long sleeve police uniform.
- Requires Police Officer certification by the State of Tennessee within a reasonable period of time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be physically able to operate a variety of machines, tools and equipment which includes a motor vehicle, computer, calculator, copy machine, telephone, camera, video camera, tape recorder, two‑way radio, radar gun, baton, handcuffs, gun/firearm, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to fifty pounds of force frequently.
Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for very heavy work.
