The City of Brentwood is now accepting applications for Firefighters to join our team in the Brentwood Fire & Rescue Department.

The City of Brentwood, located in scenic Williamson County, is considered one of the most desirable suburban locations in Tennessee. As a Brentwood Firefighter you will be responsible for preparing for and responding to fire, medical, and related emergency calls and providing general support within the Fire & Rescue Department. You’ll be a part of an accredited and award‑winning department that remains committed to providing the highest level of fire suppression, fire education, emergency medical, and technical rescue services to the Brentwood community.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Responds to emergency calls for fire, medical, and other emergency situations.
  • Removes individuals from dangerous/hazardous situations.
  • Performs all activities necessary to suppress/extinguish fires.
  • Assesses emergency medical problems and performs prescribed treatment as outlined and authorized under Tennessee Emergency Medical Responder guidelines.
  • Performs code enforcement, pre‑fire surveys and building inspections; issues burn permits; maintains hydrants; provides education to the public on fire safety/prevention; provides tours of fire station facilities.

Minimum Training And Experience Required
  • 21+ years of age
  • Sixty (60) credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university OR Thirty (30) credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university plus two (2) years paid structural firefighting experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines, tools and equipment which includes a motor vehicle, computer, generator, fire pump, fire hydrant, axe, shovel, hydraulic tools, power tools, hand tools, medical equipment, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently.

Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for very heavy work.
