Description
LBMC's Data & AI practice is looking for interns with a genuine curiosity for data and AI who want to learn how modern AI solutions are engineered from beginning to end. Data & AI Engineering interns will work in the Brentwood, TN office under the direct mentorship of our data and AI engineers, building real solutions for clients across a diverse set of industries, from start-ups to large enterprises.
This is a fast-paced, dynamic practice: you will see work move from raw source data to cloud pipelines, to analytics and intelligence, to AI agents that automate real business processes.
Cloud infrastructure on Azure :
Provisioning and working in Microsoft Azure environments, including storage, Data Factory, security, and scalable cloud architecture.
Data engineering on Databricks :
Building pipelines and lakehouse architecture in Databricks with Python, SQL, and Delta tables, including data quality checks that make data trustworthy.
AI automation with Python & Lang Graph :
Designing agentic workflows in Python and Lang Graph that take action and automate work, not just answer questions.
Foundation models in practice :
Hands-on work with Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and other large language models: prompting, tool use, and connecting models to enterprise data.
Insight to intelligence :
Turning engineered data into analytics, reporting, and AI-driven recommendations that clients use to make decisions.
Engineering discipline :
Git, Azure Dev Ops, and CI/CD practices for deploying data and AI solutions to production.
Real, shipped work: you will contribute to client-facing data pipelines and AI automations, not a sandbox project that never leaves your laptop.
The opportunity to join an internship class of close to 100 students that come from a wide range of backgrounds and educational disciplines.
Mentorship from practitioners building data and AI solutions every day, and the ability to participate hands-on with client-facing projects.
Networking opportunities through vibrant company events and participation in curated organizations such as the Women's Initiative Network, Lending Hands community initiative, Young Professionals group, and robust Talent Development trainings/webinars.
Flexible work schedules (by team), "dress for your day" attire, dynamic technology solutions, and financial incentives for training/certifications such as Azure and Databricks (if pursuing a full-time career with us post-internship).
A real opportunity to turn your internship into a full-time career post-graduation. We operate under the mantra that "you will get out of your internship what you put into it," and our team leaders actively pursue top internship talent to potentially bring on as full-time employees.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU IN RETURNEDUCATION :
Candidates should be at least a Junior or pursuing graduate-level work in Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field. A GPA of 3.5+ is required . Working knowledge of Python and SQL through coursework or projects. Exposure to Azure (or another cloud platform), Databricks, or LLM APIs is a strong plus, but not required .
CURIOSITY :
You tinker. You have built something with data or AI on your own, such as a class project, a side project, a Git Hub repo, or an automation that saves you time, and you want to understand how it works under the hood. Tell us about it.
LEARNING :
Be curious and try new things! AI tools change month to month; you actively stay current, experiment with new models and frameworks, and bring ideas back to the team. Seeks to learn how LBMC…
