Transylvania County Schools seeks a Plumber in the Plant Operations department. Position is available February 2, 2026. Position is full-time and includes employment benefits; 12-month employment term.

Under limited supervision, responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of water and waste disposal systems. Reports to the Assistant Director of Maintenance.

• Measures, cuts, threads, assembles, and installs pipes and tubing.
• Connects valves, caulks, joints, and tests finished jobs by allowing water to flow through.
• Installs water, sanitary fixtures, and equipment with supports, hangers, or foundations.
• Eliminates leaks by repacking valves or by replacing faulty fittings or sections in line.
• Replaces worn parts.
• Makes corrections as needed.
• Maintains tools, equipment, and supplies for proper job performance.

• Works with other related maintenance trades as directed.
• Performs other related maintenance functions as directed.
• Occasionally requires non-scheduled hours of work due to the emergency needs of the school system.

Graduation from high school with three years of experience in plumbing or a related field, or any combination of education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job functions.

Must be physically able to operate power tools and mechanical equipment. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently. Must be able to perform all related tasks, including lifting and climbing, as needed to perform the job functions. Physical demand requirements are for medium to heavy work.
