Ward Clerk

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clerical support for attendances and admissions within ward 10.
• Ensure all patients are admitted, transferred and discharged correctly on clinical IT systems.
• Maintain paper‑based record keeping in accordance with departmental requirements.
• Update clinical IT systems regarding patients’ movement within the service and their discharge or transfer to other wards or hospitals in an accurate and timely manner.
• Input and extract data as required.
• Perform full clerical duties following office procedures to ensure the smooth running of the ward – including filing, scanning, photocopying, retrieving hospital notes and faxing.
• Carry out ward clerk duties such as amalgamation of hospital notes, sorting patient results and sending them to relevant wards, filing signed blood forms, and liaising with Consultants and their secretaries.

• Experience in a clinical clerical environment, preferably in a hospital ward setting.
• Proficiency with clinical IT systems and handling of patient movement data.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain compliance with departmental policies.
• Welsh language skills desirable – speaking and listening at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above; not an essential requirement.
