Halfords Autocentre apprenticeships offer work across a wide range of vehicles, from basic servicing to complex diagnostics and engine rebuilds. A successful apprentice adapts quickly, is flexible, enjoys problem‑solving and learns from lecturers, mentors and colleagues while achieving the highest repair standards.
In the role you will diagnose, service and repair a variety of cars, using both basic tools and advanced diagnostic equipment. Tasks range from replacing parts to solving complex faults.
Working Week- Autocentre opening hours: 0800‑1800 (6/7 days per week)
- 5 day working week including 1 day at college (day release)
- Total hours per week: 40.00 for up to 18 and 44 hrs for over 18 years
- 30 days holiday rising to 33 days

During the programme apprentices acquire knowledge and skills to become competent technicians, covering workplace safety, engineering skills, vehicle inspection and servicing, maintenance, repair and diagnostics of engines, chassis and electrical systems.
Qualifications- GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalents)
- Friendly, helpful, team‑oriented with a strong desire to build a career as an Auto Vehicle Technician
- Interest in cars and solving problems
- Hands‑to‑hand work and strong fitness for manual work involved
- Knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance
- Enjoys working and fixing problems with cars
- Knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Enjoy practical application of knowledge and skills
- Interest in how vehicles operate and willingness to research, analyse and solve problems; organised, methodical and detail‑oriented
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, both oral and written; delivers excellent service
- Analytical and mechanical skills
- Flexibility and willingness to learn
- Adaptability, flexibility and daily problem solving focus; customer‑focused, sharp attention to detail; good listening to lecturers, mentors and colleagues to diagnose and repair vehicles to the highest standard
