Commercial Business Partner – Sales

Stadler Rail is seeking a Commercial Business Partner to support the delivery of competitive and commercially robust bids across the UK rail sector.

Based at one of our UK locations, this role works closely with the Senior Sales Manager and cross‑functional teams, including Commercial, Legal, Finance and Bid, to coordinate tender submissions, ensure compliance with governance, and assess commercial risks and opportunities.

Role Overview

Support and coordinate bid and tender activities, develop compliant, competitive, and commercially robust submissions, and ensure alignment across commercial, bid and legal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and coordinate the preparation of bid and tender submissions, ensuring alignment with tender requirements, internal governance, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with UK commercial, bid and legal teams to agree commercial approach, including assumptions, risk positions and governance requirements.
  • Support the Senior Sales Manager with bid governance, reviews and internal approval processes.
  • Review proposed contract terms and coordinate with relevant internal teams to agree positions and escalation of key risks.
  • Identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities within bids and early‑stage opportunities.
  • Ensure internal alignment on non‑negotiable positions on commercial submissions.
  • Assist the Senior Sales Manager with the development of overall commercial strategy.
  • Build strong relationships across Sales, Commercial, Bid, Finance and Legal teams.
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a bid and/or sales environment (essential).
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts (essential).
  • Ability to support opportunity development leading to successful bids.
  • Strong stakeholder management across multi‑functional teams.
  • Commercially minded with strong analytical and financial awareness.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience.
