Abatec is assisting their client, a leading civil engineering and water specialist contractor with the recruitment of an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support the safe delivery of infrastructure and utilities projects across the Welsh Water framework.

Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure all activities are delivered safely, in line with statutory requirements and industry best practice.

You will act as a visible and proactive presence on site, providing guidance, coaching, and assurance to drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and wellbeing performance.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with site delivery teams to provide advice, support and training on all aspects of health & safety compliance and issues affecting site location
  • Organise, support and contribute to health and safety assurance audits.
  • Conduct and/or support accident and incident investigations.
  • ISO 45001 champion & monitoring & ensuring compliance with ISO 45001
  • Understand and apply the company’s approach to managing Health & Safety risk, driving best‑in‑class performance.
  • Monitor and review corrective actions to ensure clear, effective improvements.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience working as part of a Health & Safety team, preferably with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Civil Engineering contractor
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • IOSH membership (or working towards)
  • Experience working on civil engineering or construction projects.
  • Ability to collect, analyse and interpret large volumes of data with accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging at all levels
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Visio, Excel and Power Point
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary up to £35,000 - £50,000 DOE
