Overview

This post presents a fantastic opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about placemaking, including those at early stages in their career, to join Swansea Council's Planning Service and contribute to ambitious placemaking and heritage regeneration agendas.

The city features a rich historic urban fabric and a City Centre undergoing large-scale, place-led regeneration. It comprises a network of towns each with distinct identity and regeneration potential, alongside internationally recognised natural assets such as an award-winning coastline and the Gower National Landscape.

This variety reflects the scope of placemaking and heritage work for the successful candidate, who will join a friendly and welcoming team of planners, placemaking and heritage officers.

• Guide projects of varying scales through advice, negotiation and leadership within the Placemaking and Heritage Team.
• Develop placemaking skills and take focused responsibility on projects within a supportive and structured team environment.
• Collaborate across departments to support Swansea’s placemaking and heritage agendas and maintain a high standard of collaboration and performance.

• Relevant experience in placemaking or related fields.
• Desirable membership of a relevant professional body (IHBC, RIBA, RTPI or Recognised Practitioner in Urban Design) or ongoing training to achieve this.
