Learning Support Assistant

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with additional learning needs? Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work across diverse educational settings in Bridgend that support pupils with a wide range of additional needs. These include environments for children and young people with complex learning difficulties, autism, and communication challenges, as well as settings focused on social, emotional, and behavioural development.

Each provision offers a nurturing, inclusive approach with small class sizes, personalised learning plans, and strong multi-disciplinary support. The goal is to help pupils build confidence, independence, and essential life skills through tailored education and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 support for pupils with a variety of additional learning needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and social-emotional challenges.
  • Foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that promotes independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure consistent support across settings.
  • Support pupils in developing life skills, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs and encourage engagement.
What We’re Looking For
  • Have experience working with children with additional learning needs in either specialist or mainstream settings.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and resilient when supporting pupils with complex needs.
  • Be adaptable and confident in working across different provisions and age ranges.
  • Possess strong communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Show initiative and creativity.
