Overview

Engineer - Rail Engineering Standards / Systems Integration

Location:

London (Hybrid working)
Rate: circa £400 per day

Contract:

52-week contract

Hours:

Full time, 40 hours per week
Start: ASAP

Responsibilities
  • Review, update and rationalise rail engineering standards, including standards mapping and hierarchy.
  • Support standards reviews and briefings, including BS, EN and ISO standards.
  • Trace standards and requirements through requirements management tools.
  • Identify and resolve conflicting engineering standards, producing assurance arguments where required.
  • Support the introduction of new technology into a safety-critical rail environment, particularly where standards are evolving or under development.
  • Apply knowledge of data management and information security standards.
  • Support standards auditing, compliance and assurance activity.
  • Work collaboratively across engineering, operations and asset management teams.
  • Act as a technical point of contact across multiple engineering initiatives and work streams.
Skills and Experience
  • Engineering background (rail, systems, asset, assurance or integration focused).
  • Experience working with engineering standards in a safety-critical industry (rail, transport, aerospace, defence or similar).
  • Understanding of railway asset management and the operate and maintain phase of the asset lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of how systems and assets integrate to form a complete railway system.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working in complex, regulated engineering environments.
Working pattern
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Central London office attendance two days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
  • During the first 12-16 weeks, higher office attendance is expected (up to 4-5 days per week).
  • Occasional site visits across the rail network may be required.
