As a Senior Project Manager – Substations
, you’ll lead the safe and successful delivery of onshore HVAC enabling works in North Wales. Operating in a complex, regulated, and safety-critical environment, you’ll take full ownership of major infrastructure delivery – working across live operational assets and managing key supply chain partners.

This role is based across our Pentir site office in North Wales and our Warwick office, with regular attendance (typically 1–3 days per week), alongside flexible hybrid working.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead end-to-end delivery from optioneering and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Take full accountability for safety, cost, programme, risk, and quality
  • Integrate engineering, construction, outage planning, and commissioning activities
  • Champion a “Safe to Work” culture, ensuring compliance with ESR and CDM 2015
  • Manage contracts with strategic framework partners using NEC contracts (NEC4 ECC / PSC)
  • Control budgets and forecasts aligned to RIIO regulatory frameworks
  • Lead engagement with internal teams, regulators, local authorities, landowners, and communities
  • Provide clear, insightful reporting to programme and portfolio leadership
  • Identify and manage technical, commercial, and operational risks
About you
  • Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure projects within UK electricity transmission or distribution
  • Strong background in substation environments, including live/brownfield sites
  • Experience working in a regulated utilities environment
  • Strong knowledge of CDM 2015, safety leadership, and construction risk management
  • Track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and managing Tier 1 contractors
  • Commercially astute, with strong experience managing NEC contracts
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Construction, or Project Management
Nice to have
  • Understanding of RIIO price control frameworks
  • Experience in outage planning, commissioning, or asset energisation
  • Exposure to digital delivery, BIM, or asset data integration within transmission networks
  • Chartered or working towards (CEng, MAPM, MICE, ChPP)
  • Ability to speak Welsh
What you'll get

A competitive salary between £70,000 – £85,000 – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a job requirement car, a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
