The Role

My client is looking for an experienced Design Engineer/PDS Engineer to support the through-life management and ongoing airworthiness of established aerospace products. The role will focus primarily on post-design and in-service engineering, working with legacy aerospace products that the business supports.

You will be responsible for reviewing existing product and design documentation, investigating technical queries and identifying the work required to bring legacy technical and design assurance documentation in line with current standards.

This is a structured, methodical role suited to an engineer who is comfortable working with established products, technical documentation and legacy designs rather than someone looking for a predominantly new product development position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess legacy aerospace products and designs.
  • Review existing PDFs, drawings and technical/design documentation.
  • Investigate existing designs and identify any gaps or areas requiring update.
  • Refresh and update design assurance and technical documentation in line with current standards and requirements.
  • Scope the engineering work required to update existing products and their associated design assurance.
  • Respond to technical queries relating to established products.
  • Undertake design investigations and provide technical engineering support where required.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of products to ensure they remain airworthy and compliant.
Experience Required
  • Previous experience working within an aerospace engineering environment is desirable
  • Strong background in design / design assurance / through-life engineering.
  • Experience working with legacy products or existing designs.
  • Ability to interpret and review technical documentation, drawings and design data.
