Overview
Oak Tree Surgery is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Finance Support Officer to join our friendly and supportive primary care team.
This role is ideal for someone with strong financial administration skills and familiarity with the latest accounts and payroll apps and software, who is looking for flexible working hours within a GP practice environment.

Job Purpose
The Finance Support Officer will provide day-to-day finance and payroll support to Oak Tree Surgery. The post holder will ensure financial records are accurate, payroll is processed correctly and on time, and financial procedures comply with NHS and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Payroll and Financial Administration:
Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner using Sage Payroll - Maintain payroll records including starters, leavers, pensions, statutory payments, and deductions
- Maintain and update financial records using Xero accounting software
- Process invoices, payments, and expense claims
- Carry out bank reconciliations and support cash flow monitoring
- Prepare the monthly practice enhanced services claims
- Accounts and Reporting:
Assist with the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports - Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking
- Liaise with external accountants, payroll providers, and other relevant organisations
- Maintain accurate financial records and audit trails
- Compliance and Confidentiality:
Ensure compliance with NHS financial policies and statutory regulations - Handle sensitive financial and staff information confidentially and securely
- Provide finance-related support to the Practice Business Manager as required
Oak Tree Surgery is an EMIS practice in a modern building with ample parking and easy access to the M4, the Vale of Glamorgan Heritage Coast and the Brecon Beacons. We have 18,000 patients, 15 GPs and 42 staff serving the Bridgend and Vale area. We enjoy working collaboratively with our neighboring practices as part of Pen Y Bont Health Limited.

Skills and Experience- Experience using Sage Payroll
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Experience of working in NHS primary care or a GP practice
- Knowledge of NHS pensions and funding streams
- Experience supporting audits or financial reviews
- Trustworthy and professional
- Flexible and adaptable
- Proactive and able to use initiative
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Experience using Sage Payroll

- GCSE C and above in Maths and English
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in Finance or Business and Finance
