Location:Pyle, Bridgend, South Wales
Salary:£31,000 – £33,000
Job Type:Full-time, Permanent
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly organised and proactive Accounts Administrator to join our growing team. This role will support the day-to-day financial operations of the business, with responsibility for Quick Books management, monthly VAT returns
, and oversight of key administrative costs such as insurance and utilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of finance administration within a busy SME environment.
Experience with in the construction or related industries would be highly beneficial.
- Maintain and manage company accounts using Quick Books
- Process purchase invoices, sales invoices and credit notes
- Carry out bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
- Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns in line with HMRC Making Tax Digital requirements
- Assist with month-end and year-end reporting
- Manage supplier payments and customer receipts
- Credit control and chasing outstanding invoices
- Liaise with external accountants when required
- Manage and track company insurance policies (fleet, liability, equipment etc.)
- Handle insurance renewals, documentation and claims support
- Monitor and manage utility accounts (electricity, gas, water, telecoms etc.)
- Check, code and process bills for payment
- Support cost monitoring and identify savings where possible
- Maintain organised digital and physical financial records
- Previous experience in an accounts administration or bookkeeping role
- Strong working knowledge of Quick Books
- Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns (monthly preferred)
- Good understanding of UK accounting practices and HMRC compliance
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Confident with Microsoft Excel and Office
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
- Experience with in the construction, engineering, or energy sector
- CIS knowledge
- AAT qualified or working towards
- Experience managing company insurance and utilities
- Payroll knowledge
