Job Summary
37 hours per week. The Highway Maintenance Team within the Communities Directorate are seeking a Highway Inspector with knowledge of and experience of inspecting, surveying, identifying solutions and supervising works to maintain the highway network within Bridgend County Borough.
Key Responsibilities- Undertaking Condition and Safety Inspections of the Highway Network to ensure its structural integrity and safety of the public.
- Keeping records of the inspections undertaken and recording the details to computerized records/databases.
- Identifying, monitoring and supervising repairs to Highway Asset.
- Participation in the Authority’s out of hours Call‑out and Standby systems to deal with any incidents that occur on or near to the highway or highway‑controlled land.
Must have experience in undertaking the specific duties identified in this pack. Must be able to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, external companies and members of the public.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
A valid driving licence is required for this post.
The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post, providing a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.
A Health Surveillance assessment through our Occupational Health Service is required for this post.
Night duties, weekend working, standby duties and emergency response are a requirement of this post.
